SEO Help
Just like many other SEO firms, we all started out as a group of people involved with the Internet in some way, but not knowing exactly how SEO worked. Over 10 years ago, when we first wanted to make sure our websites we controlled were performing well in the search engines, the only real place to get help was online. Having said that, most markets were easy to got into the top positions, but such is the competition now that you either get SEO help or stay out of the first pages.
So what kind of help is available? Well there are a few ways of getting the desired results for your chosen keywords, and it basically comes down to those ‘key words’ you choose how to approach this. If you have a couple of very specialised phrases that describe your service, and the competition is quite low, then given time there is plenty of SEO help online. There are thousands of articles, blogs, tips and reviews about how to manage a small but effective campaign. It will focus on a few key methods, including link building, creating good content and managing the internal structure.
When your needs are slightly more demanding, the SEO help you need will be in the form of an SEO specialist or a SEO consultant. This is true for all sought after key phrases now, we would say any that get more than 5,000 searches on Google every month. When you have say 50 of these phrases to aim at, then SEO help has to come in the form of an external company.
The only other option at this stage would be to employ full time SEO help, and it certainly is more popular now to see someone on head count for the large retail e-tailers. The only problem in this instance is that while it is beneficial to have someone 40 hours a week working on link building and social networking, they are quite often not capable of structuring a campaign themselves. There can also be difficulties in matching the combined experience and know how of an SEO firm which has many employees and different campaigns.
SEO Forum
With so much talk about the many different ways in which SEO is performed, there are inevitably a large number of SEO Forums to visit. This is great and bewildering at the same time. Here we look at a few of the most popular and what to look out for.
General website owners and designers, SEO managers and Blogger’s all use Internet forums to get the best and most up to date advice when it comes to getting the right blend of ’searchable’ content on your website. This is a field that is forever changing and is difficult to keep up with, so the forum posts by members are a handy way to keep in touch.
The main problems with forums is that they are exposed for what they in certain cases, just a test bed for wannabe SEO ‘experts’, and this means there can be potentially as much rubbish as there will be great tips for great results. A way to help steer clear of the less informative and useful information is by using some of the bigger forums that are moderated to a good degree. This means a lot of the spammers and Junior members will be shown up for what they are, and will give the readers a chance to decide for themselves if it is information they want to take on board.
The main forums that available to English speaking browsers are the SEO Chat Forum, which is our favourite, and the High Rankings Forum. An unofficial source of Google updates and general SEO practice, is available at the blog of Matt Cutts, who is an employee of Google, and the only way we get to see public questions answered by a Google contact. Many of the good resource websites are not actually branded as a ‘forum’ and are just SEO guides, or SEO news sites. The ones which are the most visited by users from across the World are the very popular SEOMOZ, and Google’s Webmaster Central forum. The latter is a really a textbook for the basics and a good reminder to us all what not to do. Seomoz is a site used by search engine optimizers to post and answer questions, plus keep on the ball about new developments.
Having these forums means any dedicated professional can help with what is a still a new science, and something which requires long long learning. Look back a couple of years and Twitter wasn’t really an important part of any business, now it seems a profile on this mega social networking portal is a must. This kind of quick shift in methodology means SEO Forums will only grow in popularity and number, as we all try to keep up.
