With so much talk about the many different ways in which SEO is performed, there are inevitably a large number of SEO Forums to visit. This is great and bewildering at the same time. Here we look at a few of the most popular and what to look out for.

General website owners and designers, SEO managers and Blogger’s all use Internet forums to get the best and most up to date advice when it comes to getting the right blend of ’searchable’ content on your website. This is a field that is forever changing and is difficult to keep up with, so the forum posts by members are a handy way to keep in touch.

The main problems with forums is that they are exposed for what they in certain cases, just a test bed for wannabe SEO ‘experts’, and this means there can be potentially as much rubbish as there will be great tips for great results. A way to help steer clear of the less informative and useful information is by using some of the bigger forums that are moderated to a good degree. This means a lot of the spammers and Junior members will be shown up for what they are, and will give the readers a chance to decide for themselves if it is information they want to take on board.

The main forums that available to English speaking browsers are the SEO Chat Forum, which is our favourite, and the High Rankings Forum. An unofficial source of Google updates and general SEO practice, is available at the blog of Matt Cutts, who is an employee of Google, and the only way we get to see public questions answered by a Google contact. Many of the good resource websites are not actually branded as a ‘forum’ and are just SEO guides, or SEO news sites. The ones which are the most visited by users from across the World are the very popular SEOMOZ, and Google’s Webmaster Central forum. The latter is a really a textbook for the basics and a good reminder to us all what not to do. Seomoz is a site used by search engine optimizers to post and answer questions, plus keep on the ball about new developments.

Having these forums means any dedicated professional can help with what is a still a new science, and something which requires long long learning. Look back a couple of years and Twitter wasn’t really an important part of any business, now it seems a profile on this mega social networking portal is a must. This kind of quick shift in methodology means SEO Forums will only grow in popularity and number, as we all try to keep up.
