Online SEO
In theory Online SEO is the only kind of SEO you can perform, as the process involves optimising a website for the purpose of increased popularity with the search engines. They only operate within the World Wide Web, but we see there being other kinds of Online SEO that are important to focus on.
If you were to break down the elements that encompass SEO and try to find any part that is not internet related then you will struggle, but there are other methods of marketing that have big advantages when it comes to getting better rankings online. As part of the work we do there are plenty of magazines and newspapers whom we approach with a view to having an interview or sending across a press release. This can be about pretty much anything, depending on your client, but should be focused correctly when choosing the avenue in which to publish the story. For example if an article were about an Horse riding competition, it may be wise to contact Horse and Hound magazine. Not a great example but we are sure that makes sense.
The reason why this can still be considered SEO is because the engines are smart enough to figure out that the article is talking about a certain theme, and the majority of newspapers and magazines have websites. In turn they usually appear online and this gives great exposure to a website. The other thing it can do is get a precious back link if you are lucky. Either way it’s a part of SEO that cannot be ignored.
As the article title suggests, Online SEO is very much dominated by finding ways of getting your marketing strategy right via online methods. These can include many factors, namely external sites like article submission portals, news media concentrated sites and the common internet directory. Over the last few years the World has seen a huge increase in the usage of ‘social media’, or ‘social networking’ sites. These are not always targeted simply to drive traffic direct to your own company, but also to help create a brand image. A valuable by-product of these is that examples such as Facebook, YouTube and Digg all have very high ratings with Google for PageRank and also with Alexa, both of which are good markers when it comes to seeing which websites have performed for Online SEO. Getting a page up and running will give you useful exposure in terms of one way permanent links and help your own site with Online SEO.
