Posted by Neil Palmer on February 26, 2010 | No Comments »It may be hard to imagine life without the Internet, but turn back the clock 25 years and they didn’t even exist. Now it’s likely that you can name more domains you use than friends you have. SEO Tags
Posted by Mike Campbell on February 21, 2010 | No Comments »Many systems that people use for blogs or their own business website will have a place to enter tags. These are more present than ever before when it comes to articles, information and blog posts. SEO tags help organise, sort by and filter information and entries on a website.
Applying a tag is not something that should be done lightly. Adding scores of tags into posts that are not so relevant is the wrong thing to do. Keeping visitors happy by offering correct tagging will help increase your page views and hopefully conversions. Continue Reading…

Traffic Versus Keyword Position
Posted by Neil Palmer on February 20, 2010 | Comments OffThere are plenty of people who are sceptical about the importance of number one keyword rankings within the search engine results. In fact, we have seen numerous small to medium size businesses settle for top 10 rankings without knowing the fantastic potential of number one positions.
If you have never been in the top spot for keywords, then it’s easy to settle for lower down the rankings and not spend the extra getting to the peak. As SEO specialists, we provide data to potential clients which shows the massive increase by being in the top 1 as appose to top 10.
An AOL research exercise proved the point in 2009. Look at the breakdown of figures from a survey of close to 10 million searches:
Total Searches: 9,038,794
Total Clicks: 4,926,623
Rank 1: 2,075,765
Rank 2: 586,100 = 3.5 x less
Rank 3: 418,643 = 4.9 x less
Rank 4: 298,532 = 6.9 x less
Rank 5: 242,169 = 8.5 x less
Rank 6: 199,541 = 10.4 x less
Rank 7: 168,080 = 12.3 x less
Rank 8: 148,489 = 14.0 x less
Rank 9: 140,356 = 14.8 x less
Rank 10: 147,551 = 14.1 x less
In basic terms, lets explore these results in relation to real life turnover. Your key phrase is ‘buy expensive things on the web’. You are placed number 5 in the results. If you have a turnover of £100,000 per year from this phrase, this would be closer to £857,155 per year (with the same conversion rates) if you were number 1.
That’s just 4 places higher…. So, if you are in the top 10, make sure you push on and take advantage of the rewards from a number one spot in the SERPs.
